Before starting to create high resolution mock-ups, I wanted to establish the colour scheme and typography I want to use throughout my dashboard screens.
I started off researching a few examples of existing dashboards and the colour schemes they used to both represent the main dashboard as well as the infographic elements. I want to use a real reduced colour pallet that isn’t too over the top as that takes away from the information being shown. I think I will settle for a more monochromatic scheme with hints of analogous or complimentary colours to make parts stand out.
After looking at these various existing dashboards as well as using adobe color to look at different colour palette options I created my colour palette which included 4 different colours for the 4 different pages / sections of data I collected and a 5th colour for when I had more than 4 pieces of data in my charts.
I chose these colours as I thought it was a good range or brighter colours used which would make my data feel and look more fun as it is about my life and I wouldn’t want it to be feeling boring!!
The primary colours used are:
For my typography I decided to use two typefaces with a range of fonts which would compliment each other well. I started off looking at font and typefaces such as Barlow and Railway as these were the ones recommended to us in class for use.

Railway
Although these are both two very good typefaces I decided to settle on using Open Sans as my typeface using the Open Sans Regular, Semi-bold and bold fonts. My reasoning behind this choice is due to its good readability no matter what font I use, allowing there to be a clear difference between body copy and headings and over all making my interface look a lot cleaner.
