“How has Artificial Intelligence influenced football analytics, with a focus on game strategy and performance”

Dissertation Structure Ideas

After choosing my research question, I started to look at different structures for my dissertation as this will help me further refine my research and dissertation content.

Structure Idea One

My first idea for dissertation structure was to break up my main body of text into:

• Pre-match

  Taking a look at pre-match analysis and how artificial intelligence will impact tactical preparation. This could include things such as opponent analysis and set piece analysis and the tactics which need to be explored for upcoming matches

• In-Game

  Taking a look at how ai can influence the tactics during a match and how real time decisions are made using ai-powered dashboards. This can give analytics on changes that may be needed with subsitutions and formation changes.

• Post Match

  Taking a look at how ai can anylse key points and areas of the game such as passes, shots and possession as well as a spatial anaylsis and a breakdown on the teams tactics. Evaluating what went well, what went wrong and identifying shape transitions, overloads, pressing traps.

Structure Idea Two

My second idea for dissertation structure was to break up my main body of text into:

• The Evolution of Tactical Analysis: From Human Insight to AI Integration
• Real-World Applications of AI in Tactical Decision-Making
• Challenges, Limitations, and the Future of AI in Tactical Analysis

During class in week two, I had to present a potential dissertation structure alongside my research title and question. For this I decided to use my first dissertation structure idea due to me having done more research into those topics and was a clearer structure in my head.
