Geri Coady is a canadian illustrator and author who currently lives and works in Nottingham. I the past she has worked for big clients such as Google, Microsoft and Scholastic. She also did other work such as writing Colour Accessibility Workflows, a book published by A Book Apart which was voted net Magazine’s Designer of the Year in 2014. On the side she also writes Geri writes Japan, a love letter for her love to Japan as well as creating original art prints, pins and stationary.
Some of the more illustrative work she has works on includes an enamel pin design for Microsoft Garage. The designs of these pins use the simplest of drawings which you or I could probably draw but the amazing thing about it is the use of colour and the smaller more delicate details as well as the specific font used.
She has also created illustrations and branding for a computer repair workshop based in Glasgow. Omniscot works alongside both businesses and individuals supporting people who need advice and help for their Macs and PCs. Geri’s designs are both fun and effective. They clearly illustrate the products that the company works with through fun simplistic doodles.
I also personally really love the art she has for sale on Geri Draws Japan. She is really able to showcase both her interests and talents through it as the drawings are a lot more detailed than her simplistic illustrations and icons. The detail to her japan drawings make them look almost identical to the original Japanism drawings.
Her range of different styles of work is so inspirational and I think it is amazing that her design ranges so much. If I take an illustrative route for my project I will definitely use her work as inspiration
