From my initial sketches, I began to digitally translate the concepts into a more structured and interactive format. Moving into a digital environment allowed me to organise the layouts more clearly, begin to experiment with screen structures and shape how the user journey would function within the app.

At this stage, I focused primarily on two key areas of the app: the onboarding process and the main hospital journey. Prioritising these sections helped me establish the foundation of the app, as the onboarding flow introduces users to the platform while the hospital journey represents the core experience that users will engage with.

Initial Low-fi Screens

This stage helped me to develop the onboarding ideas outlined in my user flows by translating them into simple visual screens. It allowed me to start to explore how my core user journey would visablly look for key steps such as the user setup, appointment setup and profile customisation. Creating these low-fidelity screens helped make the flow more tangible and easier to evaluate, ensuring that the overall structure of the onboarding process remained clear and user-focused as it moved from concept to visual design.

I then looked at creating low-fi flows for the main narrative journey within the app by expanding the core flows into a series of guided screens. This helped me to visualise how the narrative unfolds step-by-step and how users are guided through different stages of the journey. The journey is broken into progressive steps for each journey stage to help communicate the childs progression and create a sense of how far they are through each part of the experience.

Each screen includes a title, supporting text, and a visual placeholder which together help frame the narrative and provide context for the user. The content is broken into short sections so that information is delivered gradually rather than overwhelming the user with large amounts of text at once. At the end of each sequence, children are prompted with a simple rating interaction allowing them to reflect on how helpful or meaningful the section was.


Updated Low-fi Screens

After altering my user flows slightly due to refining my features, I then revisited and updated my low-fi screens. When doing this I placed my user flows beside them to ensure I wouldn't stray too far away from the plan and follow the flow closely

When updating the screens, I also worked on the overall structure, clarity, and usability of the onboarding experience too. One of the biggest updates I made was cutting down on the amount of screens. Before the inputs were broken into multiple individual screens where users enter information step-by-step, such as name, email and password. However I felt this was quite long and decreased the number of steps and pages to help users enter multiple pieces of information at once and streamline the overall process.

I also started to experiment and introduce more contextual and supportive ideas such as progress tracking and guidance prompts which help users understand where they are in the process and what they need to do next and help strengthen the sense of progression through the app.

Overall, these updated helped refine the steps of the onboarding process and remove/ reduce unnecessary screens making the app more organised and provide clearer guidance. Hopefully these changed will help make the onboarding and setup process feel more cohesive, efficient, and user-friendly, particularly for younger users navigating the app.
