Oliver Jeffers MBE is a Northern Irish, artist, illustrator and author who actually studied in Ulster University however these days he splits his time between working in New York and here in Belfast. He has written 19 books which mainly explore themes of curiosity and humour, selling over 14 million copies across the world and been translated into over 50 language. However what interested me the most is his augmented reality sculpture trail “Our Place In Space” which first came about in 2022 in Foyle before travelling across Northern Ireland and parts of the UK before coming back to the North Down Coast. When learning about the work of Jeffers in the lectures, I found it quite exciting that I would be able to experience his work for myself!
I had to complete the trail on several different days due to the typical Northern Irish weather (the first day we got absolutely soaked and the second day it was boiling hot ) but I loved completing it as it allowed me to expand my knowledge on the solar system through this sculpture walk and app as well as getting exercise and spending time with my family.
