For this project, we had follow a brief and create some obscure designs using the knowledge we have build up. We were asked to create 5 Instagram-style frames that follow a simple story board sequence for point, line and plane.
FIGMA
I started off with Point, I had to pick 2 words from the list: Reflect, Multiply, Disperse, Proximity, Scale, Dominance and create two simple 5 screen storyboards showing my understanding of those words using points, dots and circles. Before choosing my 2 words, I decided to experiment some different ideas in my sketch book before deciding to demonstrate multiply and proximity:
I took inspiration from different objects moving and how the proximity between them changes each time throughout the process. One example I found was a journey and moving from Point A to Point B by transport or by foot. I was also interested in how static electricity worked and how when they have opposite charge they attract and have a close proximity and when they have the same charge they repel and have a larger proximity.
For my line project, I had to choose two of the following words to demonstrate my knowledge of them: rhythm, frequency, symmetry or asymmetry. I had to create two sets of five frames, purely using lines of different widths, thicknesses and orientations. I chose Symmetry and Asymmetry as my two words, using the lines to create the shapes of letters that are symmetrical and asymmetrical.
