This module was really informative when it came to looking at the different routes and opportunities I could take on next year. It allowed me to think about the skills I have through both university and external activities which I can apply when working a placement job. I also learned a lot about freelancing and why people tend to take that route over going into industry and how I could write a tender document to get work.

My favourite task for this module was surprisingly the pitch presentation which was also the one I was dreading the most. I enjoyed it as I was given the freedom to create an idea and pitch it to a panel. I chose skiing due to it being a problem I had actually encountered myself but when I presented my pitch, I actually found out that it was a problem Hal also had came across. I was also really happy with the look of my presentation as I had put a lot of work into making it complement my pitch as well as using the right amount of text and imaging so that it was not overpowering or too busy. I was able to put my nerves aside for the pitch and relaxed, making sure I maintained things we had spoken about in our presentations lecture such as eye contact, good posture and speaking clearly and I think it paid off as I got good feedback and won the “investment money” in my pitch group.

An aspect I did not enjoy as much was creating my portfolio, only due to the fact it was so difficult using framer which caused me to spend a lot more time on it and it not be as good as I wanted it to be. There was a lot of issues with responsiveness across devices as well as the content shifting when copying it from Figma which caused a lot of time rebuilding it in Framer. I would seek another option in the future such as coding it myself due to this. Although at the end of the day, I was offered multiple interviews and secured a placement from my portfolio so it did do its job.

Overall I did enjoy this module and there is a lot of things I have learned that I have already been able to apply on my journey to securing a placement and that I can apply in the future.
