The questions asked at a UX interview may be slightly different to any other interview I have done before. While the questions are still competency based, it is important you can demonstrate your skills set, have a deep understanding on the industry and specific companies work and leave a lasting impression on the company that makes them want to know more about you.
Something that really helped me was the task we did in class where we asked each other questions which my come up when we do a UX interview for placement. We also got to look at what a mark scheme may look like to get a better understanding of what we are getting marked on in an interview.

This exercise really helped as I am really nervous for interviews but I was able to surprise myself with how well I could answer the questions with no preparation for them and going in blind without any prior knowledge of the question styles With some prep and work on stories I could use as examples, I would feel pretty prepared for an interview if needed.

I also read the following article to get some tips and tricks on things to do or say in a UX style interview which will help boost your interview and make your answers memorable to the employer.

<aside> 💠What I learned
This article had a strong emphasis on making yourself memorable, something we have spoke about in class a lot as originality especially when reaching out to companies who haven't got a job post currently up but you want to show admiration and respect towards the company and express a real interest in them and their work. A lot of the time it is the first impression that tells people if you are likely to be a fit or not before they've even looked at your work.
Another question I wouldn’t of thought of myself but are quite common to come up is telling them about a latest UX trend you like and telling them a bit about why or a UX role model and how you apply what you admire from them into your own work. Companies will look for the fluency in which you can talk about this and shows you are up to date with industry trends and show a strong interest!
Interviewers will always want to know how you have contributed to a project or service, something I already knew from interviewer for part time jobs and being asked how I participate within a team. They want to understand how you work alongside others but also how I can work individually and how I process tasks myself and the steps I take.
Finally I learned it is ok to let your personality shine through in an interview, they have already seen your work so they are seeing how you react and present yourself as a person and if what you display would be a fit for their company. It is important you are truthful and honest in what you say and how you act but also not to be afraid of asking the company questions to ensure it is also the right fit for you!
Overall I learned a lot which I will be able to take on and apply to my placement interview preparations.
