The Exploring Identities branding module had many different enjoyable aspects for me which I could pick from but my favourite was being able to create the touch points and interactive elements such as the landing page. I really enjoyed this as it allowed me to showcase my banking brand and elements that went into creating such as my logo mark, typography and brand colours.
I especially enjoyed prototyping different products for my brand such as posters, bank cards and in my brands case coffee cups, coffee beans and merchandise that ties a coffee shop and bank together. For my brand this was a very crucial element as it allowed me to have the correct balance of banking and coffee shop which without the prototyping would not be possible or very hard to create. When I chosen the correct prototypes and implemented my brand guidelines to it, it really made my whole brand come together.
I also really liked picking prototypes as it allowed me to look at a large range of prototypes of specific things and allow me to chose with which style of coffee cup for example best suited by brands style and look and I could prototype out many different styles before choosing the one I want to use for my style tile and to promote my banking brand. It also allowed me to be a bit creative when designing how my bank cards, coffee cups and coffee beans were gonna look and I enjoyed creating multiple different designs, especially for the coffee cups and then whittling it down to which ones suited the banking brand for Nexus the best.
The landing page was also a really enjoyable aspect as not only did it bring all my different brand aspects together but I was also able to include the imagery I had chosen which reflects my brand and the application prototypes I had created. I also really liked looking at existing landing page layouts and sketching a few ideas of my own to establish a basic layout for how it was going to look. I liked this as I could brainstorm what I was going to include, creating a rough idea of where it would all go and how the layout would look with this content. I also really liked creating it because it allowed me to market the brand to the user and be able to pick out points that users wanted out of my Google form research and highlight how Nexus, my banking brand can help improve these aspects or how it is suited to the young adult target audience.
Overall this branding project was really enjoyable and has allowed me to learn so much about not only what goes into creating a brand such as it’s identity but further develop my learning in typography and colours. I can’t wait to be able to apply all this knowledge on future products.
